C D Wright – 1949 – 2016

The poet C D Wright passed away a few days ago. I read her obit in the New York Times, then her poetry from various sources on line. I sketched her while I watched a video clip from the Poetry Foundation’s web site that came from the PBS News Hour Poetry series. She reads from her book ‘One With Others’ and tells of her friend V’s (Margaret Kaelin McHugh) involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. CD Wright is a soft spoken southern woman with a shock of big white hair. …dh
